MARGOT is a turtle whose shell tells the story of all the habitats it lives in: seaweed, corals and small fishes are thus melded and both decorate and lend greater meaning – a sort of a dual portrait that serves to reinforce its message. The loggerhead turtle, a species once common to the Mediterranean Sea, is now on the brink of extinction in Italian waters. Its presence in our homes thus provides a timely reminder of how fragile the environment around us is and how we must all play our part to preserve it.
It’s embellished with three-dimensional textures and enamels hand-crafted by master craftsmen. And thanks to its generous proportions, the space concealed beneath the turtle’s carapace-lid can serve as handy place for storing small objects.
